Camera Magazine founded in 1922 was dedicated to the art of photography for almost 60 years. Under the editorship of Alan Porter from 1966 to 1981, it provided a showcase for historic photographs, the work of established world renowned photographers and up-and-coming new talent. Owned by the C.J. Bucher publishing company of Lucerne, Switzerland, the magazine was acclaimed for its reproduction quality utilizing the sheet-fed gravure process and after 1973 a duplex offset system that maintained the quality while reducing printing costs. Camera Magazine was purchased by the Ringier Printing Company in 1973 which continued publication until December 1981.
